Pilot policy

Safeguarding comes before scale.

MathTree is being designed for young learners. No in-person pilot should begin until a responsible adult has approved the venue, supervision, consent process, and local procedures.

Minimum rules for a pilot circle

• Meet only in an approved public or community venue—not a private one-to-one setting.
• Have at least two responsible adults present or accountable for each meeting.
• Obtain verified parent or guardian consent for every participant under 18.
• Never publish a child's precise location, phone number, school, or private contact details.
• Keep mentor–student communication in approved, observable group channels.
• Use a written attendance, arrival, departure, incident, and emergency process.
• Follow applicable child-protection laws and background-check requirements in the pilot location.

Mentors

Mentors volunteer by their own choice, but interest alone is not approval. Adult identity, suitability, references, training, and any legally required checks must be verified before a mentor works with children.

Reporting concerns

A pilot must name an adult safeguarding lead and publish a monitored reporting route before registration opens. Immediate danger should be reported to local emergency or child-protection services. MathTree will not promise confidentiality where a child may be at risk.

Before launch

This page states the project's design principles, not a completed legal policy. The final pilot handbook will be reviewed for the country and community in which the first circle operates.
